construction
Not only do we possess the skills, experience and processes to quickly and accurately translate engineering drawings into workable shop CAD drawings, but we can proactively identify issues before costly field delays. Translating designs into workable solutions in the field is possible with Dolvin’s project management expertise, state-of-the-art fabrication facility, onsite construction and commissioning.
Process
We continually fine-tune our ‘bid stage to final commissioning’ process by leveraging decades of experience to yield a well planned, on-schedule and organized process. Our dedicated and secure Project Room allows the entire design team – architects, engineers, contractors, suppliers – to upload, download, view, review and revise project documentation so that everyone works from the latest project drawings.
Design Assist
Dolvin has the expertise and experience to proactively work with our customers in the design development stage. Involvement at this stage helps us identify solutions that balance competing design needs such as aggressive timelines, high quality work, tight budgets and efficient system performance. Investment in a design assist arrangement helps ensure that the field installation goes smoothly, resulting in fewer change orders – no surprises onsite means schedules can be met on time and within budget. We continually challenge our team to find innovative and creative design assist solutions. Options can range from introducing more cost-effective, pre-fabricated and modular designs to identifying energy-efficient, compact equipment that works in tight spaces.
Project Management
Dolvin’s project management team keeps the big picture in mind while addressing all the small – yet critical – project details. Each project has a defined schedule and critical path for optimal construction to minimize time, material waste and costs. Because of our long-term partnerships with equipment suppliers, we use a ‘just in time’ approach not only for everyday materials, but also for more complex equipment requiring longer lead times.
Fabrication
Dolvin’s centrally located 25,000 square foot fabrication facility has cutting-edge equipment and CAD software capability. We can quickly and accurately produce fabrication and assembly drawings that can then be fabricated to our exacting standards.
Onsight Construction
Our experienced and dedicated site supervisors, foremen and skilled labour force deliver projects on time while meeting our exacting standards. We also focus on continuous improvement on all our job sites by looking for ways to reduce construction waste or coordinating with other trades to save time.
Commissioning
Once the construction stage is completed, Dolvin works with commissioning agents to ensure that all the mechanical systems have been installed and operate according to project specifications, design drawings, equipment manuals and applicable codes and standards. To support the building owner, we prepare a documentation package, including any as-built drawings, equipment operating manuals, recommended maintenance schedules and spare part listings. Only then can we consider the project complete.
